Pan Car Racing is Back!
Actually, they never left, RCSM Pan Car mainstays, Allan, Dave “Racer X” and Wes have been here every Saturday Night waiting for some pan cars racers to show up so there will be a race. But, recently there has been a revival of interest in the Stock Six-Cell NASCAR Class. With “gas” cross-overs in the likes of Mike L., Mike B, Larryn F., Keith B. “Jerky” ‘Joe L., Jim H and Joe D, joining some-timers Raymond M, Vic Fox, and Rick F., and the new guy Scott. Racing has increased to two heats followed by some very exciting B and A-Mains with a bump up. Eight cars in the Mains, rumor has it, there is discussion increasing that number to 10! In the last three weeks, two of which were for practice allowing the crossovers to acclimate themselves to batteries and asphalt. Asphalt racing has risen to a level that hasn’t been seen at RCSM for a long time. The flurry of brightly painted cars, the makes of cars with all the fender rubbing, bumping and banging is there, coupled with a few excursions through the infield, down pit lane, and the wrecks. Drivers are having fun, shaking their heads with ear to ear smiles and eager anticipation for the next heat. The crowd is really enjoying it too, cheering and jeering for their favorites. A week ago Saturday, started the Stock Six Cell NASCAR Class Point Series at RCSM, with some real surprises in the finishing order! Then on April 2nd, the “A” Main run time was increased to 5 minutes, with a new track record being set! These fellows are covering a 200-foot plus racing groove in 5 seconds and speeds in excess of 30 mph! Who is going to win this series, will it be one of the Mainstays, Crossovers, a Some-Timer or a Ringer. Come on out and join in the fun! Just like NASCAR, two races into the series and the points get all turned around and all up for grabs! There is always room for the Spectator and more room on the track for new drivers! See ya there!
