Spring Point Series

The Spring point series was another fun series of races for those who participated. A class that started back up in full force was the pan car class on Saturday nights that had a tremondous turnout every weekend. The NasCar class ended with a nice big bang with the 2nd annual 4th of July Pan Car Shootout event in mid July.

A notable racer for both the Saturday series and Wednesday series is Joe Doucette. He pulled the Iron Man by winning both series Championship trophies for the Sprint Gas Dirt Oval class. Way to go Joe!

The Fall/Winter Point series has just begun and we'll have the schedule posted online here in the next few days.

DODC Nitro Tour

The Nitro Tour continued in Newville, PA this past weekend and our local drivers did outstanding at the event, taking three spots in the top 5 in the A Main in the 'Outlaw' class. And with that the Arizona boys continue to make a presence on the national circuit.

    • 2. Cris Cramer
    • 4. Joe Telesca

US Pan Car Championships

“Hey Boone check this out” was the header of an e-mail I had forwarded to him while RCSM was preparing for the 2005 4th of July Pan Car Shoot Out. It was a solicitation from some fellow going under the moniker of USPANCARCHAMPS from another forum inquiring if our track would be interested in hosting one of their events. Well, Boone isn’t one to be easily distracted, hehe, but he responded to the E-mail delaying discussion until after the PCSO2005 and to consult with the M&M Boys.

No sooner than the checkered flag was waved concluding the PCSO2005, Travis Grantham, posted in the RCSM Forum about this Regional Event, with a “hey guys look at this”. The solicitating fellow registers on the RCSM Community Forum under the same 'USPANCARCHAMPS' ID and jumps in to explain it all further. Then Mom chimed in with a post….

If you guys think there will be enough interest, we will send (a bid) in. We just don’t know enough about Pan Cars and 4-Cell Racing so we would need some help in setting things up. Mom
and of course from the cheap seats…
… That ain't never US Pan Car Championshipsstopped you before! …
Well, after some more discussion, about batteries, rules, classes, and comments and encouragement from the cheap seats, and some VooDoo in the back room, I read this:
“Your welcome. lemme go ahead and put you guys down as confirmed for USPCC Southwest oval regional 1….” USPANCARCHAMPS
So the last thing you know, becomes the first thing you thought you knew, then you didn’t know it at all, and Whammo … RCSM is hosting another regional event.

Every racetrack should have an involved “peanut gallery” with the likes of Raymond McCoy, Vic Fox, Travis Gratham, Arizona Al, a webmaster of “Boone’s” caliber, a Mom (Mike Lubanovich), an Aunt Bea (Mike Bjdorhal) always thinking of the track and racer’s best interest. This group coupled with the support of Gary and Cinda and a “roguish silent majority of racers” proves that anything is possible at R/C Sports Mania.

Two nationals, one regional and one state event in one year at RCSM, wow! It just goes to show you that R/C Sports Mania rightly has the claim to being “Arizona’s Premier R/C Racing Facility”.

Way to go!
