RCSM Rules & Regulations

RADIOS
All radio controllers that are not in immediate competition shall be turned off and not use while competition is underway. Anyone found not complying, will forfeit their right to competition and be asked to leave the premises. All participants must have at least one backup, (alternate) frequency and list it on the entry form when entering the races. An exception will only be made for a first time racer at this track. All participants must use their assigned frequencies. An official must authorize any frequency changes.
RACE STARTS & LENGTH
It will be the option of the Race Director to start a race with a rolling start or a standing start. The Race Director shall make periodic announcements as to the amount of time until the race starts. At the 15-second call, no further re-fueling of vehicles will be allowed, all pit crew members are to leave the track area and the vehicles are to take their starting positions. All races (except enduro) shall be run for 4 minutes plus the lap you are on. There shall be a maximum of 3 minutes between each race. All competitors shall be ready to compete when they or their class is called. Anyone missing his or her call will be considered as defeated in that race.
SPORTSMANSHIP
A car must finish the race under it’s own power, it cannot be pushed across the finish line. Unsportsmanlike driving (i.e., intentional hitting of other cars, short coursing and corner diving, blocking when being overtaken by faster cars and not racing for position) is not allowed. Anyone doing so will be disqualified at the judgment of the Race Director. A penalty may be assessed at the discretion of the Race Director for corner cutting. If the offender stops within the area of the infraction and allows the car that was immediately behind the offender, when the corner was cut, to pass before the offender returns to racing, no penalty may be assessed at the discretion of the Race Director. Excessive unsportsmanlike conduct or abusive language will cause disqualification from that day’s event at the Race Director’s discretion.
TRANSPONDERS
It shall be the racers responsibility to make sure that they receive a transponder, for lap counting, before each of their races, and also that the transponder stays with the vehicle during the race. Any laps run without a transponder will not be counted into the computer. All transponders shall be mounted in a protected area and behind the front shock towers. A race official shall approve each vehicle’s transponder location and mount. All transponders shall be returned immediately after each race.
DRIVING RULES
No car will be driven at any time in reverse of the track traffic. The use of reverse in a race is not allowed. Any vehicle found in a situation that it cannot proceed forward under it’s own power, shall wait on a Turn Marshal. It shall be the Race Director’s decision on how to handle such violations.
TURN MARSHALS
It is the driver’s responsibility to Turn Marshal for the race immediately following their race. The driver may however, designate a qualified substitute to take his or her place by notifying the Race Director of such. Failure to do so may result in the loss of laps in the main event. The number of laps lost shall be the Race Director’s discretion. Turn Marshals are responsible for returning vehicles to the racetrack if they are able to continue, or removing them from the racetrack if they can no longer continue. Turn Marshals are not to repair vehicles on the track or carry them to the driver for repair. It is the driver’s responsibility to come get the disabled vehicle from the Turn Marshal’s area.
CLASSES & POINTS
Classes with less than 4 entries shall be combined with another class or classes and shall be raced together in the same race. It shall be the official’s decision as to which classes will be combined. On points dates, points will only be awarded to the racers as per their place of finish in the classes that are run that have a minimum of 4 entries. A racer may switch classes during the points series, and by making an official aware of their intention my carry 50% of the already earned points, in the class they are leaving, to the class they are switching to.
THROTTLE RETURN SPRING
All vehicles must have a throttle return spring on the carburetor arm (not on the linkage). Rubber bands will be allowed on a slide valve carburetor.
CLUTCH & BRAKES
All vehicles must have a clutch and a braking system capable of slowing the vehicle to a complete stop while the engine is running.
BUMPERS
All vehicles must have front bumpers. Bumpers shall be made of plastic or kydex material and shall be at least the width of the chassis and either; a minimum of 1/8”, turning up so as to present a surface of not less than ½” in height at a right angle to the race track or be a minimum of ¼” round on the front edge. Rigid, blade-like bumpers made of hard, non-resilient materials will not be allowed. All bumpers are to be bolted securely to the vehicle. Plastic ties or other such temporary attachments will not be allowed.
MUFFLERS
Mufflers or exhaust systems must be mounted in such a manner that the discharge is parallel to the ground or lower. Mufflers must be intact and operational while the vehicle is running.
INSPECTION
All vehicles that are heat winners and vehicles that are award winners shall be technically inspected immediately after their competing. Any vehicle found to be illegal will not advance or be given an award. Any individual who does not abide by any of the rules of this track or is found to have illegal vehicles shall be bound by any penalty that the Race Director deems appropriate.
FINAL DECISIONS
The officials for unexpected or extraordinary conditions may make special rules. Decisions of the officials on interpretation of the rules, regulations, procedures or scoring of the positions shall be considered final.
